About us..
The Medicines Evaluation
Unit (MEU) at Wythenshawe was established in 1994 and is a joint
venture with the University Hospital Of South Manchester NHS
Foundation Trust. The MEU is owned by the North West Lung Centre
Charity and due to the unique way that we operate, all profits
generated by us are reinvested into the research of future
treatments for respiratory diseases.
What we do...
We are a specialist respiratory clinical
research facility working with the pharmaceutical industry to
identify potential new treatments for conditions such as Asthma and
COPD (chronic bronchitis and emphysema). These treatments could be
a brand new drug or new combinations of existing medicines which
have undergone previous testing in healthy volunteers and now
require evaluating in people who suffer from respiratory conditions.
