Types of Volunteers

For our ASTHMA studies, Volunteers should be:
- Male or female aged 18 to 65 years old
- Current non-smokers
- Diagnosed with Asthma by a doctor
For our COPD studies, Volunteers should be:
- Male or Female 40-75 years
- A current or ex-smoker with a smoking history of greater than 10 years
- Shortness of breath or coughing
- Diagnosed with Asthma, COPD, Chronic Bronchitis or Emphysema
For our HEALTHY VOLUNTEER studies, Volunteers
should be:
- Male or female aged 18 to 65 years old
- A Current non-smoker
- In good general health
- Not taking any regular prescribed medications
What happens to my personal information?
When you register your details you will not be making a commitment but simply expressing an interest to find out more. A member of our Volunteer Services team will then contact you to take a few more details about you and your general health.
Please be assured that The Medicines Evaluation Unit does not share your personal information with any other organisation. Your personal details will be held confidentially and securely in accordance with data protection legislation.
Am I eligible to take part?
All of our volunteers should reside in the Manchester or North West region as all visits will take place at our Unit in South Manchester. In addition you should be registered with a Doctor in the United Kingdom.
